Magnetic inspection traces defects on or close to the surface (to a depth of approximately 2 mm). It uses the principle that a crack or other discontinuity on the surface causes a magnetic stray field in a magnetized object. Missouri Forge Inc. uses this nondestructive testing to make cracks visible by an interruption of this field.

At Missouri Forge Inc., we perform non-destructive magnetic particle inspections on carbon, alloy, and stainless steel forgings, as well as super alloys. We also do die penetrate inspections.
